CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Winthrop women's tennis opened up the season with a challenge in the ITA Kick-Off Weekend facing fifth-ranked UNC, with the Tar Heels taking a 4-0 victory. The Eagles will take on William & Mary on Sat., Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in a consolation match. 

UNC won the doubles point with victories on courts two and three, while a competitive match on court one between Winthrop's No. 50 Lauren Proctor/Megan Kauffman and No. 18 Jessie Aney/Alexa Graham of UNC would go unfinished tied at three all. UNC would go on to win three more singles courts to clinch the match 4-0.
