A GLANCE AT WINTHROP
The Eagles get to focus their attention back to league action after a non-conference midweek 4-0 loss to #4 North Carolina. Winthrop is looking to bounce back from its league-opening 2-0 loss to Presbyterian College and looks to avoid going 0-2 to start Big South action for the second straight season. Winthrop is currently fourth in the Big South in goals per game at 1.33. The offense is led by
Max Hasenstab's 14 points and
Rasmus Arousell's six points. Neither one of them played in the midweek game against the Tar Heels and the Eagles are hoping they can return for the team's first league road contest. Junior Mac Carreras will also return after missing the game against UNC as the Eagles look to get the offense back on track.
A GLANCE AT LONGWOOD
Longwood continues to look for its first victory of the season and is currently in the midst of a seven-game losing streak with three of the losses coming by just one goal (William & Mary, Appalachian State, North Carolina State). The Lancers are enduring a longer scoreless streak than the Eagles (2 straight games) as they've been shutout in four straight games. Through eight games the Lancers have three goals with all three being scored by different players (Connor Rea, Marten Pajunurm and Sammy Dupuy). This is the Big South opener for the Lancers.
HASENSTAB TABBED BIG SOUTH ATTACKING PLAYER OF THE WEEK FOR A SECOND TIME
Max Hasenstab was named the Big South Attacking Player of the Week for a second time this season (Sept. 18) after he helped the team to a 1-1 record the week before with two goals and two assists.
