Winthrop Baseball Hosts The Citadel on Tuesday Night

ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop Baseball team faces the Citadel on Tuesday night looking to snap a three game losing streak with first pitch at 6 pm at The Winthrop Ballpark.

The Eagles (16-16) were swept for the first time this season this past weekend after dropping three to Presbyterian College. The Bulldogs (10-19) enter the game with a win against Charleston Southern on April 4.

Junior Mitch Spires enters the game with a .333 batting average and is first on the team with 38 hits. Freshman Zach Peek is 2-0 this year with 21 strikeouts on three starts.

The Citadel Jonathan Sabo is leading the team in batting average with .328, hits with 38, home runs with six, and runs scored with 29. The Bulldogs Aaron Lesiak is 3-1 with a 2.20 ERA with 15 strikeouts and two saves in 14 appearances.

The Eagles and Bulldogs played earlier this year with the Citadel winning 34-8 in Charleston on March 14.
