ROCK HILL, SC – The Winthrop baseball team will take its five-game winning streak up against sixth-ranked Clemson on Wednesday night when the Eagles face the Tigers at 6:30 p.m. at Doug Kingsmore Stadium.
The Eagles (13-11 overall) are coming off a three-game sweep of Big South Conference preseason favorite High Point this past weekend. Winthrop received three strong pitching performances and collected 30 hits, including two doubles, two triples, two home runs against HPU to improve to 5-1 in Big South action. The pitching staff finished the weekend with 2.67 ERA, 13 strikeouts, one shutout, and a .235 opponent batting average.
Clemson (20-4) will be host Furman on Tuesday night before Winthrop arrives.

Mitch Spires has been hot at the plate as he enters the game riding a 17-game hitting streak. Sophomore
Brandon Fite has also been hot of late and has an 11-game hitting streak going.
