ROCK HILL, SC— Winthrop men's basketball will be going for its 11
th road win of the season when it travels to Farmville, VA Wednesday night to take on Longwood at 7 p.m.
The Eagles are looking for a second straight win and the 20
th on the year as they enter with a 19-6 overall record and a mark of 11-2 in the Big South. The game will be available to fans on the Big South Network or tune into 104.1 The Bridge with Dave Friedman supplying the play-by-play.
As of Tuesday, Feb. 14 the Eagles are tied with Vermont and Belmont for the most road wins in the nation at 10 as all three are 10-3 in away games. Belmont is done with its road games for the regular season while Vermont and the Eagles are both going for a road win Wednesday evening.
Winthrop bounced back from its double-overtime loss last Thursday at Asheville with a 77-71 win over Gardner-Webb behind 23 points and 10 rebounds from junior
Xavier Cooks. Cooks also led the Eagles in assists. During his career the Eagles are 5-0 in games Cooks leads the team in points. Rebounds and assists in a game. Cooks has scored 20 or more in back-to-back games and is seventh in the league scoring at 15.6 ppg and 3
rd in rebounding at 8.3 per game.

Keon Johnson was just 2-for-19 from the floor, but 11-for-12 at the foul line as he finished with 15 points and is still second in the Big South in scoring at 22.0 ppg. Johnson is closing in on 1,900 career points (1,889), a mark that only 12 other players in league history have reached. In his last five games he's averaging 29.6 points, 4.2 rebounds and 3.0 assists while shooting 47 percent from the floor, 44 percent from three and he's 37-for-39 at the foul line (95 percent). Johnson is leading the team in scoring on the road this year at 24.5 ppg and shooting 45 percent. He's scored 20 or more in nine of the 12 road games he's played.
Winthrop top's the league in scoring at 78.3 ppg while Longwood ranks 10
th allowing 80.8 ppg. This will be the second meeting of the season as the Eagles won 83-65 in Rock Hill on Jan. 7. It will mark the 11
th meeting all-time and the 8
th since the Lancers joined the Big South. Winthrop has won seven straight over Longwood and leads the series 8-2.
The Lancers are looking to put an end to an 11-game losing streak as they are coming off a 91-69 loss to Asheville at home. Longwood is down to seven available scholarship players after a number of injuries.
Leading the way offensively is Khris Lane, who is 5
th in the Big South in scoring at 16.2 ppg and 4
th in rebounding at 7.3 per game. However, in the last three games Isaiah Walton has led the team in scoring twice with 20 at Gardner-Webb and 28 at Campbell. Walton is third on the team in scoring at 13.7 per game while Darrion Allen is second at 14.2 ppg.
