ROCK HILL, SC— The 10
th anniversary of the 2006-07 Winthrop men's basketball team's record-setting season and NCAA Tournament victory over Notre Dame will be celebrated during Hall of Fame weekend on Jan. 27-28.
The 2006-07 team, which was led by Winthrop Hall of Fame coach Gregg Marshall, finished the season with a 29-5 overall record, the best in school history as a Div. I member, and is still the only team in Big South history to go through a conference season undefeated at 14-0. Winthrop finished the year ranked No. 22 in the final Associated Press Poll and was ranked No. 2 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top 25.
The 74-64 first round victory over the Notre Dame Fighting Irish that occurred on March 16, 2007 in Spokane, WA is considered the biggest win in school history and marked the first-ever first round NCAA win by a Big South Conference member school.
That team will be recognized on Friday, Jan. 27 during the Winthrop Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and again at halftime of the Saturday, Jan. 28 men's basketball game against High Point at 2 p.m.

Members of the 2006-07 team included: Chris Gaynor, Torrell Martin, Craig Bradshaw, Michael Jenkins, Phillip Williams, Taj McCullough, Antwon Harris, De'Andre Adams, Mantoris Robinson, Jason Killeen, Kyle Moore, Johnathan Rice, Byron Faison, Anthony Williams, and Reiner Blickle. In addition to Marshall, the coaching staff included assistant coaches Randy Peele, Paul Molinari and Earl Grant. Andy Kettler served as strength coach.
Jeff Lahr was the athletic trainer. Dana Ford was an administrative assistant, and
Jack Frost served as director of media relations. Student managers were Joe Mantesta, Will Plyler, Chris Barnes, and Jason Williams.
Gaynor, a member of Winthrop's 1,000 Point Club and the starting point guard in 109 career games, is among four people who will be inducted into the Winthrop Hall of Fame. He will be joined by former Winthrop Athletic Director Tom Hickman, former men's soccer coach Rich Posipanko, and former volleyball standout Shannon Sitzmann Reid.
