ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop junior
Colby Coulter and senior Tristan Langley turned in the top performances for the Eagles during the 32nd annual Winthrop Adidas Invitational which was held Saturday morning at the Winthrop Farm.
Both Winthrop teams finished third in the Gold Divisions which were won by Appalachian State's men and women. Coulter (Lexington, SC) ran the eighth fastest time in the Gold Dvision as he completed the 8K in a time of 26:10.1. Langley (Belmont, Nova Scotia) finished ninth in the women's Gold Division with a clocking of 18:49.70 in the 5K.
Appalachian State's men and women dominated both races as the Mountaineers had eight top 10 finishers in the men's event and six in the women's race. App State junior Tristin Van Ord won the women's 5K with a time of 18:07.90 while Mountaineer men's junior Michael Ellis had the best Gold Division finish with a time of 25:01.30, which was second to Garnet Division champion Kelvin Kirui from Emmanel who finished with a time of 24:55.40.
Queens University of Charlotte pulled off the double team victory in the 11-school Garnet Division. Catie Byrd was the top women's finisher in the Garnet Division with a time of 18:31.00. Five members of the Queens men's and women's squads finished in the top 10.
