ROCK HILL, SC—The Winthrop Lady Eagles' ran their Big South Conference record to 4-1 with an impressive 7-0 victory over Gardner Webb Thursday afternoon at the Winthrop Memorial Tennis Courts.

No. 1 Alice Garcia and Mariana Humberg began the doubles sweep with an 8-2 win over Rokia Sacko and Teodora Stanciu.  No. 2 Ekin Gunaysu and Tijana Uzelac downed Stina Magnusson and Mary Walker Mixon 8-3.  No. 3 Monica Aguado and Camille Amrani finished doubles play by beating Catherine White and Sarah Rieckmann 8-6.

The Lady Eagles dominated singles play winning every match in straight sets.  No. 1 Garcia won 6-1, 6-3 over Sacko.  No. 2 Gunaysu defeated Magnusson 6-3, 6-0.  No. 3 Humberg won 6-3, 6-2 over Rieckmann.  No. 4 Uzelac topped Stanciu 6-1, 6-4.  No. 5 Aguado dominated White with a strong 6-0, 6-0 performance.  No. 6 Amrani wrapped up the day by downing Mixon 6-1, 7-5.

The Lady Eagles, 7-10, will look to continue their winning ways when they travel to face Campbell this Saturday, Mar. 28.
