BOX SCOREBARBOURSVILLE, WV—The Winthrop Lady Eagles' tennis team lost to the No. 74 nationally ranked Marshall Thundering Herd 7-0 Sunday afternoon at the Huntington (WV) Tennis Club.
At the No. 1 doubles position 
Alice Garcia and 
Ekin Gunaysu fell to Derya Turhan and Anna Pomyatinskaya 8-6.  No. 2 combo of 
Mariana Humberg and 
Tijana Uzelac downed Marija Bogicevic and Anne Gulsrud 8-4.  Marshall was able to clinch the doubles point with No. 3 Maddie Silver and Rachael Morales' 8-1 victory over Camille Amrani and 
Monica Aguado.
The Herd proved to be too tough for the Lady Eagles sweeping the singles competition.  No. 1 Gunaysu lost 7-5, 6-1 to Turhan.  No. 2 Garcia was defeated 6-3, 6-1 by Silver.  No. 3 Humberg fell to Pomyatinskaya 6-3, 6-4.  No. 4 Uzelac was topped by Bogicevic 6-3, 6-2.  No. 5 Aguado lost 6-4, 6-4 to Morales.  The afternoon was wrapped up with No. 6 Amrani falling to Gulsrud 7-5, 7-6.
The Lady Eagles, 6-10, will return home for a three match home stand beginning with their contest against UNC Greensboro Thursday, Mar. 19 at 2:00 pm at the Winthrop Memorial Tennis Courts.
