BOX SCORECLINTON, SC—The Winthrop Lady Eagles' tennis team returned to action for the first time in nearly two weeks Thursday against the Presbyterian Blue Hose and the time off proved to be helpful as Winthrop blanked Presbyterian 7-0.
Winthrop took the early lead by winning the doubles competition and taking the doubles point.  At the No. 1 doubles position, 
Alice Garcia and 
Mariana Humberg defeated Greer Ransom and Demi Henschel 8-6.  No. 2 doubles combo of 
Ekin Gunaysu and 
Tijana Uzelac clinched the doubles point by downing Brittany Nuttall and Claire-Mitchell Andrews 8-1. No. 3 doubles duo of 
Monica Aguado and Camille Amrani fell to Caroline deLoach and Madison Utberg 8-4.
The Lady Eagles performed strong in singles play winning every match in straight sets.  No. 1 Garcia bested Ransom 6-1, 6-0.  No. 2 Gunaysu also won 6-1, 6-0 against Nuttall.  No. 3 Humberg topped Henschel 6-4, 7-6.  No. 4 Uzelac dropped Andrews 6-4, 6-2.  No. 5 Aguado took down deLoach 6-3, 6-2.  No. 6 singles play saw Camille Amrani coming out victorious over Utberg in her season debut 6-1, 7-5.
The Lady Eagles, 3-6, will be back on the court Wednesday, Mar. 4 at 1:00 pm when they return home for a match against East Tennessee State at the Winthrop Memorial Tennis Courts.
