BLACKSBURG, VA--Sophomore
Marthaline Cooper had her fifth top three finish in the women's weight throw as she claimed third place at the Virginia Tech Challenge held Friday and Saturday at Rector Field House.
Cooper (Providence, RI) had a throw of 18.33 meters in her final tune-up before next week's Big South Conference Indoor Championship in Winston-Salem, NC.
Other top seven finishes by Winthrop's men's and women's athletes included a fifth place finish by junior
Alesha Love (Columbia, SC) in the 200 meter dash with a time of 25.35 seconds. Sophomore
Carmen Rollizo (Irmo, SC) finished seventh in the triple jump with a leap of 11.24 meters. In the men's events, senior
Carlo Raiteri (Pordenone, Italy) took seventh place in the 60 meter dash with a clocking of 7.03 seconds.
