"UNITE IN THE FIGHT" TRIPLEHEADER SATURDAY
The men's game on Saturday will be the final game of the day of a tripleheader. The day begins with a women's soccer match against Campbell at 1 p.m. followed by a charity game at 4 p.m. between the Rock Hill Police Department and Rock Hill Fire Department. All three games can be seen for a minimum $5 donation in a collaborative effort to raise money for breast cancer research as all proceeds will be donated to The Carolinas Kickin' It Challenge (http://www.kickinitchallengecarolinas.com/).

LAST MATCH
Winthrop turned in one of its best defensive efforts of the season as it pulled off a 1-0 upset of 25th-ranked Radford and pushed its winning streak to four games. Sophomore Charles Coulson netted the only goal of the game in the 28th minute for his third goal of the season and second game-winning goal. Fabian Broich made four saves to keep a clean sheet, earning his 5th career shutout as an Eagle. It was the second straight season the Eagles were able to pull off 1-0 victories against a nationally-ranked Radford squad.

BIG SOUTH UPSETS
In a three-day span the Big South Conference had two teams ranked in the Top 25 and also had two members pull off victories over Top 25 opponents. On Sunday Asheville pulled out a 3-2 victory over 4th-ranked Coastal Carolina and then two days later the Eagles knocked off 25th-ranked Radford.

WHO TO WATCH
This matchup features both players that earned Big South Choice Hotels Co-Attacking Player of the Week honors in Chuka Anyafo and Magnus Thorsson. Asheville's Anyafo came off the bench to score the game-winning goal (his first of the season) against the Chanticleers and he also assisted on a goal in the 45th minute that put the Bulldogs up 2-1. Winthrop's Thorsson had a big week for the Eagles scoring two goals in the 4-3 double overtime win at Gardner-Webb. Thorsson scored the game-tying goal in the 87th minute and then the golden goal in the 105th minute. Zach Joens leads the Bulldogs with five goals on the year with just 17 shots. Winthrop junior Max Hasenstab could return to action after missing the game against Radford and he has scored in the last four games in which he's played.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
The Eagles are 3-0 in the Big South for the second straight season as they aim for a 4-0 start to the league schedule. Winthrop hasn't done that since 2008 and only four times in the program's history with the best start coming in 2002 at 6-0. Winthrop's offense is ranked 27th nationally at 1.9 goals per game, but the Eagles and Asheville rank near the bottom of the Big South in goals against. Winthrop is allowing 2.04 goals per game while the Bulldogs allow 2.09. In the 11 games the Eagles have defeated Radford during the regular season they've posted a 7-3-1 mark in the next game. This will be the fourth time the Eagles play Asheville following a win over the Highlanders and have won the previous three meetings.

ABOUT OPPONENT
Asheville is under the direct of first-year head coach Mathes Mennell, who came to the program after serving as an associate head coach at Loyola Marymount.  The Bulldogs pulled off arguably the biggest win in the program's history when it defeated 4th-ranked Coastal Carolina on Sunday (Oct. 11). The Bulldogs opened the season with a 2-0 win over USC Upstate and shutdown the nation's leading goal scorer Gordon Wild. The Bulldogs have scored 11 goals on the year with eight of them coming in the second half.

SERIES HISTORY
This will mark the 39th meeting all-time as the Eagles own a 24-11-3 advantage in the series. Though the overall record heavily favors the Eagles, this series has been back-and-forth over the last 11 meetings. Winthrop has won two of the last three meetings but in the last seven meetings the series is tied 3-3-1. Last season the Eagles were nationally-ranked when they went to Asheville and tied 1-1. The Bulldogs last win in Rock Hill over the Eagles came Oct. 15, 2011.
