Rock Hill, SC – The Winthrop men's tennis team earned the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Big South Tournament.
The Eagles finished conference play with a 6-2 record, going 13-9 overall on the season. Winthrop will play tournament host, and No. 7 seed, Gardner-Webb in their first tournament match on Wednesday, April 16th, at 11:30 a.m.
Presbyterian captured their first regular season title, and the No. 1 seed in the Big South Tournament with a 7-1 conference record. Winthrop took the No. 2 seed, while Liberty and Campbell finished Big South play with identical 5-3 records. In the tiebreaker procedure, the Flames claimed the No. 3 spot and the Camels took the No. 4 seed. Radford, Coastal Carolina and Gardner-Webb each finished with a 4-4 record in League play. By virtue of head-to-head tiebreakers, the Highlanders earn the No. 5 position having gone 2-0 against the Chanticleers and the Runnin' Bulldogs this season. CCU takes sixth place having split with RU and GWU and Gardner-Webb is the No. 7 seed. UNC Asheville picked up the No. 8 seed as it finished with a 1-7 League record, while Longwood rounds out the seeding with its 0-8 record against Conference opponents.
