Giovanna Portiolli (Curitiba, Brazil) defeated Longwood's Sarah Moomau and Malin Allgurin 8-1. No. 3 doubles was unfinished with Winthrop's freshmen
Caitlin Cridland (Perth, Australia) and
Tijana Uzelac (Belgrade, Serbia) leading Longwood's Nicole Parker and Hannah Hill, 6-2.
The Lady Eagles took a quick 2-0 lead when Longwood's Allison Shulman retired from the No. 3 singles match vs.
Alice Garcia.
Giovanna Portiolli took care of Sarah Moomau at No. 4 singles, 6-0, 6-0.
Andressa Garcia clinched the match for the Lady Eagles by defeating Malin Allgurin 6-1, 6-1, in the No. 2 position.
Yasmine Alkema dropped the first set at No. 1 singles to Marta Pinyol, 4-6 and was leading 2-1 in the second set when the match ended. No. 5 singles finshed with
Caitlin Cridland winning set one 6-4 and trailing set two 1-2 to Longwood's Hannah Hill.
Tijana Uzelac was leading Nicole Parker 6-4, 4-2, at No. 6 singles.
The Lady Eagles will play the winner of #4 seed Liberty vs #5 seed Coastal Carolina. That match will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, April 19.
