CONWAY, SC-- Winthrop women's tennis team defeated Coastal Carolina 6-1 in Conway, SC Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lady Eagles improve to 14-9 overall and maintain their perfect 8-0 conference record.

Andressa Garcia (Sao Paulo, Brazil) beat Kortney Kowal and Shelby Bates, 8-2. The Chanticleers then answered at No. 3 doubles, when Libby Scott and Mikaela Davies of Coastal beat Winthrop freshman
Caitlin Cridland (Perth, Australia) and freshman
Tijana Uzelac (Belgrade, Serbia) 8-6. Winthrop clinched the doubles point with freshman
Alice Garcia (Brasilia, Brazil) and senior Giovanna Portioli (Curitiba, Brazil) beating Vanessa Ortiz and Alicia Robinson 8-5, at No. 2 doubles.
In singles action,
Tijana Uzelac kept the Lady Eagles rolling with her win over Kortney Kowal 6-2, 6-0. At No. 3 singles, Giovanna Portioli defeated Shelby Bates 6-1, 6-1. Winthrop clinched the match with sophomore
