NORTH CHARLESTON, SC-- The Lady Eagles tennis team defeats Charleston Southern 4-3 Saturday afternoon in North Charleston, SC. WIth the win, the Lady Eagles push their record back to .500 at 9-9 and 4-0 in the Big South. 

The Lady Eagles won the doubles point with victories from the No. 1 and No. 3 posiitions. Senior Yasmine Alkema (Algiers, Algeria) and junior Andressa Garcia (Sao Paulo, Brazil) defeated Alia Nour and Angelica Sidorenko 8-5 at No. 1. At No. 2 doubles, senior Giovanna Portioli (Curtiba, Brazil) and freshman Alice Garcia (Brasilia, Brazil) lost to CSU's Yvonne Hubler and Alexandra Walters 5-8. Freshman Caitlin Cridland (Perth, Australia) and sophomore Ekin Gunaysu (Ankara, Turkey) defeated Susita Das and Marketa Placha 8-2.

In singles action, at the No. 1 position, Andressa Garcia fell to Marketa Placha 6-2, 4-6, 6-7 (5-7). Alice Garcia defeated Big South Player of the Week Yvonne Hubler 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2 singles. In the No. 3 spot, Giovanna Portioli defeated Angelica Sidorenko 6-3, 6-0. At No. 4 singles, Caitlin Cridland lost to Alexandra Walters 3-6, 2-6. Ekin Gunaysu lost to Alia Nour 4-6, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5. At the No. 6 position, Tijana Uzelac defeated Chanel Bell 6-2, 6-0.

The Lady Eagles will be back in action on Tuesday, April  2nd at 1:30 pm as they travel to Buies Creek, NC to play a rescheduled matchup with conference foe Campbell.
