ROCK HILL, SC— Winthrop sophomore guard
Derrick Henry has suffered a season-ending knee injury, announced Tuesday afternoon.
Henry, the team's leading scorer at 11.4 points per game, tore his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) and will require surgery. The injury occurred with just under three minutes to play at Presbyterian College on Saturday, Feb. 16.
Henry is the second men's basketball player in a week's span to suffer a season-ending injury and the third during the 2012-13 season. Last week sophomore
Larry Brown's wrist injury sidelined him for the remainder of the regular season and more than likely the postseason as well. Prior to the start of the preseason, junior
Brandon Vega was lost for the entire season with a knee injury.
