CHARLOTTE, NC – Winthrop freshman
Dylan Comerford has been selected as the Big South The Crons Brand Freshman of the Week for games played the week of Jan. 23-29, it was announced by the league's office today.
The South Africa native made his Winthrop debut a memorable one, not dropping a single match last weekend. In the shutout win over USC Lancaster, Comerford teamed up with fellow freshman
Rich Meade to defeat Justin Lewis and Matthew Canelon 8-3 in No. 3 doubles. In the singles round, Comerford cruised to a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Dave Fosnacht in No. 3 singles.
In the victory over Wofford, Comerford once again paired up with Meade to knock off the Terriers' Jack Seiffert and Tom Wood 8-2 in No. 3 doubles. Comerford capped off his day with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Wood in No. 5 singles.
This is the first career honor for Comerford
