The Eagles came out aggressive and got forward a lot over the first 20-30 minutes but a impressive strike off the foot of Stephen Hudgens in the 36th minute put Radford on the scoreboard first. Hudgens ripped a shot from about 25 yards off center of the goal to the left of Enrique Miranda and the shot found the far corner of the net for Hudgens first of the his career.

The Highlanders opened the second half of the match with a lot of energy and were all over thet Eagles and eventually made it a 2-0 game in the 61st minute. Lucas Diniz took advantage of a fortunate bounce and scored his third of the season after his initial shot was saved, but was there to put back the rebound.

Achille Obougou nearly got the Eagles on the board in the 66th minute as his shot was saved by a Radford player and cleared away. It was the first time since Sept. 7 that the Eagles had gone scoreless.

It's the first time in seven starts this season that Miranda has yielded more than a goal as he finished the game with five saves. Radford's Ryan Taylor didn't finish with a save as the only save in the game for the Highlanders was the shot from Obougou when the defender saved the shot from going in.

Radford finished with 21 shots to Winthrop's four. The 21 shots were the most against Winthrop since Sept. 9 in the 3-2 loss to #6 Old Dominion.
