ROCK HILL, SC--Lifelong Rock Hill resident Benny Dawkins is the winner of the Winthrop Athletics Facebook promotion contest and will receive a prized package of two men's basketball season tickets, two women's basketball season tickets, two baseball season tickets and two fall sports passes.

The contest was conducted as a way to encourage fans to become a Friend on either Winthrop Athletics Facebook or Eagle Club Facebook.  Dawkins, a who works in teleproductions for NuDay Productions, received his prize from Winthrop Athletic Director Tom Hickman.

Dawkins says his favorite moment as a Winthrop fancame in 1999 when the men's basketball team made its first NCAA tournament appearance.  "That was a very special moment to see Winthrop and Rock Hill in the national spotlight.  That was really huge for our community," he said.

Dawkins has reason to be a follower of the university for reasons other than athletics.  His oldest son Michael graduated from Winthrop 12 years ago and his youngest son Patrick is scheduled to graduate from Winthrop next May.  He has another child headed to Winthrop as daughter Rebecca will graduate this year from Northwestern and has already planned to enroll at Winthrop next fall.
