ROCK HILL, SC – Winthrop junior Nadav Ruppin (Ramat Hasaron, Israel) has been named the Big South Choice Hotels Men's Tennis Player of the Week, announced by the league's office on Wednesday.
Ruppin was able to take all four matches he participated in this week, to help the Eagles remain undefeated in the Big South Conference. Against Presbyterian College, Ruppin, along with teammate Guy Kubi took down PC's Grayson Mills and Rafael Berghaus 8-5 in No. 2 doubles. Later, Ruppin knocked off Gonzalo Asis 6-1, 6-2 in No. 5 singles as the Eagles swept the Blue Hose 7-0.
In the match against conference rival Coastal Carolina, Ruppin once again paired up with Kubi and they brought down Coastal's Danny Heidecker and Alex Funkhouser 8-6 in No. 2 doubles. In No. 5 singles, Ruppin defeated Dorian Sovic 6-4, 3-6, 5-4 to help the Eagles beat the Chanticleers 5-2.
