Men's Tennis Goes Perfect On Spring Break, Beats USC Upstate

The men's tennis team made it eight straight as they took down the USC Upstate Spartans 5-2 Sunday afternoon at the Memorial Courts to improve to 10-5 on the season.

The Eagles started well as they took all three doubles matches. Sergey Belov and teammate Liran Levy defeated Ramiro Blanco and Matias Di Pasquale 8-4 in No. 1 doubles. In No. 2 doubles Nadav Ruppin and Guy Kubi took down Edgar Rodriguez and Gonzalo Blanco 8-4, as Dejon Bivens and Yuta Hirokawa brought down Marco Linconir and Gianluca Paino 8-6.

After the Eagles took the doubles point, they continued their winning ways in the singles round as they captured four singles matches. In No. 1 singles, Belov defeated Rodriguez 6-2, 6-4, as Kubi knocked off Gonzalo Blanco 6-4, 6-2. In No. 5 singles, Ruppin cruised past Linconir 6-1, 6-4, as Hirokawa took his match in No. 6 singles by defeated Paino 6-4, 6-3.

“Today was a great way to finish a very successful Spring Break,” head coach Cid Carvalho said. “Everyone played well and we are looking forward to play Charlotte on Wednesday.”

The Eagles will be back on the courts on Wednesday, March 23 as they travel up Interstate 77 to take on the Charlotte 49ers. That match is set for 2:30 p.m.
