ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop's Spirit Groups, the Eaglettes and Big Stuff, participated in the recent  Big South 5K which was held in Charlotte to raise money for middle school athletics in the area.

During the event, the Eaglettes joined with three local cheerleading teams to entertain the participants and supporters who came out for the event.  Big Stuff, Winthrop's mascot, mingled with the crowd and posed for photos.

The Eaglettes enjoyed the interaction they had with the other cheerleading squads and Big Stuff seemed to love the attention he was receiving from the thousands of runners that were there for the race. The interaction the girls had with the squads seem to show the Eaglettes how the younger girls in the area look towards them for a role model figure. The event helped prove to the Eaglettes and Big Stuff that participating in events, like the Big South 5K, show that the team is not only helpful and community driven but also well-rounded. The team is very excited to participate in other events like the Big South 5K in the future.
