ROCK HILL, SC--The Winthrop cheerleaders and dance team is offering a Summer Spirit Camp for children ages 5-14 during the week of July 6-10 at the Winthrop Coliseum.
Individuals as well as youth cheer squads are encouraged to attend, but campers do not have to be a member of a cheerleader squad to attend., The pre-registration cost is $85 per camper while walk-up registration will be $95., The fee includes secondary insurance, a T-shirt, and snacks.
Two camp sessions are being offered. A morning session is designed for single individuals and will be held from 8:30 a.m. until 12 noon. This session is for children who are not a member of an organized cheerleader squad, or for those who are not attending with a cheerleader squad. An afternoon session is designed for cheerleading squads and will be held from 1:00-4:30 p.m. Space is limited for each session and early registration is encouraged. Squads need to be registered no later than June 10. If any openings remain on the first day of camp, registration will be accepted on a first-come first-serve basis beginning at 8:00 a.m.

The camp staff will offer instruction in the following areas: Cheers and Chants, Dance Routines, Stunts, Tumbling, and Technique,, Daily seminars will be held on topics that relate to developing into a better cheerleader and a better person, and an exhibition will be held on the final day of camp (July 10) in both sessions for parents and guests to see what each participant learned during the week. The morning session exhibition will be at 11 a.m. and the afternoon exhibition will be at 3:30 p.m.
