Men's Tennis Defeats Davidson Wildcats 5-2 On Senior Day

Daudt Won Both His Singles And Doubles Matches On His Last Home Match Playing For The Eagles

ROCK HILL, SC The Winthrop men's tennis team beat the Davidson Wildcats 5-2 on Tuesday, which was Senior Day for the Eagles, at the Memorial Courts.

 

With the win, the Eagles improve their record to 9-11 (4-1) on the season.

 

The Eagles started strong as they won the doubles point. In the No. 2 doubles match, Liran Levy and Daniel Daudt beat Calum Gee and Walker Lyons 8-4, while Pretham Moras and Dejon Bivens defeated Chris Mark and Sam Burns 8-3 in the No. 3 doubles match.

 

Winthrop continued strong in the singles side of the competition. In the No. 1 singles match, Nadav Ruppin beat Joe Schafer 6-1, 7-5, while Bivens defeated Mark 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 3 singles match. In the No. 4 singles match, Guy Kubi beat Lyons 7-6, 6-2, while Daudt defeated Gee 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 singles match.

 

“We played well today. The guys played well doubles winning the point, and then following up by winning number one, three, four and five in singles,” head coach Cid Carvalho said. “We are looking forward to play an important conference match at Liberty on Saturday.”

 

The Eagles will be back in action at 10 a.m. Saturday as they head to Lynchburg, VA, to face Liberty for their last match of the season.
