TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Winthrop men's tennis team lost to No. 28 ranked University of Alabama 6-1 on Sunday in Tuscaloosa, AL. The Eagles are 1-6 in the season.
Winthrop started behind as it dropped the doubles point. In the No. 1 doubles match, Sergey Belov and Daniel Daudt lost to Saketh Myneni and Michael Davis 8-5, while Guy Kubi and Nadav Ruppin dropped to Houssam Yassine and Trey Waltson 8-4 in the No. 2 doubles match. In the No. 3 doubles match, Liran Levy and Dejon Bivens lost to Jarryd Botha and Creighton Blanchard 8-6.
In singles play, the Eagles won one match as Levy defeated Ian Chadwell 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 6 singles match.
The Eagles will be back in action at 1 p.m. March 6 as they travel to Atlanta, GA, to face Georgia State.
