Freudenthal Leads Winthrop Men In 2009 Asics Fall Classic; Moss Places 3rd For Women (10-17-09)

Eagle Men Finish 3rd While Women Finish 2nd As Both Team Have Three Top 10 Runners

ROCK HILL, SC--Winthrop sophomore Adam Freudenthal continued his strong performances with a third place finish while the women's squad placed three runners in the top 10 to place second in the team standings of the 2009 Winthrop/Asics Fall Classic.

Furman captured both the men's and women's team titles while the Winthrop men finished third behind The Citadel.  Winthrop's men totaled 58 points in the 6K race as three runners finished among the top 10 finishers.  Furman totaled 35 points while The Citadel finished with 48.

In the women's 4K race, Furman had four top 10 finishers and 34 points to edge out Winthrop which totaled 53 points.

Freudenthal, a sophomore, turned in his fifth straight top 10 performance as he ran the 6K in a time of 18:53.34.  Furman's Charles McGoogan won the individual title as he ran the distance in 18:27.11. 

On the women's side, junior Carly Moss had her best performance of the season as she continues to recover from a summer viral infection.  She led the Lady Eagle runners with a third place finish of 14:36.60.  Kate Griewisch of Lenoir-Rhyne College won the individual title with a time of 14:13.57.
