ROCK HILL, S.C. -- Winthrop University baseball senior Alan Benhardt was named the Big South Conference Player of the Week for the final week of the regular season, the conference office announced on Monday afternoon. 
 
In the final week of his senior season, the veteran put together one of the most dominant offensive performances in the conference, slashing .625/.700/.813 for a staggering 1.513 OPS across the week's action. Benhardt collected 10 hits in 16 at-bats, including three extra-base hits, to finish with 13 total bases and did not record a single strikeout throughout. 

The week opened with a statement performance against SEC competition, as Benhardt went 4-for-5 to help power Winthrop to its first victory over South Carolina since 2015. He then carried that momentum into the Longwood series, posting back-to-back efforts of 3-for-3 and 3-for-4 to help the Eagles clinch their highest postseason seed since 2017.
