Lacrosse Continues Homestand Versus Campbell

ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Winthrop University lacrosse team prepares to welcome in Campbell on Wednesday for its second game of a four game homestand at Eagle Field.

DRAW CONTROL 
  • This will be the twelfth meeting all time between Winthrop and Campbell, with the Eagles holding a slight margin of 6-5.  
  • The first time they faced off was in 2013 in Rock Hill, with the Eagles beating the Fightin' Camels, 15-10. 
  • Lily Davis earned Big South Defender of the Week, the first time that a Winthrop athlete earned defensive player of the week since Kelsey Johnson in 2022.  
  • Davis scooped up a career-high eight ground balls, tied for the second-most in a single game in Winthrop history, also causing three turnovers and scoring her first career goal off a caused turnover. 
  • The Eagles opened their season with a dramatic overtime win against Kennesaw State, coming back tie the game with less 30 seconds left, to eventually win it in overtime. 
  • The Winthrop University women's lacrosse team was slated to finish fifth in the 2026 Big South Preseason Poll, announced by the conference office this afternoon.   
  • This marks the Eagles highest preseason ranking since 2023, when the Eagles were also placed fifth.  
  • Winthrop made their first trip back to the Big South Tournament since 2022 last season, after a 4-4 conference campaign, earning the fifth seed, and falling to three-seeded Wofford in a one-score thriller.  
  • Four of the top five point getters for the Eagles return for 2026.  
  • Mikaylah Lindsay returns to the crease, after playing in 16 games and starting 12.  
  • Lily David ranked eleventh in the conference in caused turnovers per game at 1.29.  
  • Christina Warren was also eleventh in the Big South in goals per game at 2.46.  
  • Lindsay ranked 82nd in the nation in saves and 80th in saves per game in 2025.  
  • Winthrop returns 21 from last season's roster and adds massive depth with 14 newcomers
