Hannah Potter has announced the hiring of new assistant coach
Zoe Harpine on Wednesday afternoon.
"I am thrilled to welcome Zoe to our program," said Potter. "She brings tremendous wealth of on-the-field knowledge along with invaluable experience in the office. Aside from coaching, her leadership and service back to our game deserves some love, too. Over the years I have been lucky enough to get to know Zoe, her dedication, work ethic, loyalty, and creativity have consistently stood out. She is passionate about developing student-athletes and building meaningful relationships, and I know she will make an immediate impact on our program. We are excited for our Eagle Lacrosse family to get to know Zoe and benefit from all that she will bring to Winthrop!"Â
Zoe (Pekins) Harpine joins Winthrop University as Assistant Women's lacrosse coach in the summer of 2026. She previously was the Associate Head Coach at Tusculum University from 2023-2026. In her role, Harpine oversaw the defensive unit.Â
Harpine has been involved in women's lacrosse both as a player at the Division I level and as a coach at the club and high school levels. Â
Harpine, a native of Columbia, Maryland, was a four-year letterwinner and two-year starter at midfield for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County from 2017-20. Harpine scored 41 goals and had five assists for 46 points in 57 career games at UMBC, while adding 45 draw controls and 39 ground balls along with 29 caused turnovers. She was team captain for the Retrievers during the 2020 season.Â
While at UMBC, Harpine was an assistant coach for the 2023 HoCo girls' lacrosse team. After graduating, Harpine began as head coach of the Maryland United Coast Selects 2024 team and Liberty High school JV team.Â
Harpine graduated from UMBC with a Bachelor of Arts degree in media and communication studies, with a minor in social welfare. She earned a master's degree in sport management from Tusculum in 2025.Â
