High Point, N.C. - Winthrop sophomores
Jaylen Hernandez and
Owen Sarna were voted to the 2025 Big South Conference All-Tournament Team.
Starting in the outfield in all four games Winthrop played in the tournament, Hernandez batted .500, including batting .500 or better in each of the four games. He went 8-of-16 at the plate, scored five times, and had five RBI's, two doubles, a triple and a home run. His best performance in the four games was against Charleston Southern on May 23, going 2-5 and tacking on three runs, four RBI's, a double and a homer.
Sarna's only appearance on the week was a start vs. Radford in the tournament opener on May 21. He pitched six innings, giving up five hits but most importantly allowing no runs, two walks and five strikeouts in only 26 batters faced, picking up the victory as the Eagles won 6-0. It was the first shutout for Winthrop in the tournament since May 20, 2014 when the Eagles blanked Charleston Southern 4-0 in Rock Hill.
These are Winthrop's first all-tournament winners since Will Martin in 2023.
