Charlotte, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – The Big South Conference has announced the seeding for the 2025 Baseball Tournament and Winthrop is seeded fifth after finishing the season with a 29-27 (13-11 Big South) record, earning a trip to the tournament for the first time since 2023.
For the first time since becoming Big South members in 2019,
USC Upstate has secured the No. 1 seed in the 2025 Big South Baseball Championship, it was announced this morning. The top six teams in the final standings qualified for the league's double-elimination postseason championship, which will be contested May 21-24 at Truist Point in High Point, N.C. The Spartans won their first-ever Big South regular-season championship, as Upstate finished as the outright champion with its 19-5 record in conference play (.792 winning percentage).
Defending champion
High Point finished one game back behind USC Upstate in the Big South standings at 18-6 (.750 winning percentage), and will be the No. 2 seed for the second consecutive year. Both squads receive byes to the second day.
Charleston Southern clinched the No. 3 seed at 14-10 -- the Bucs' highest seeding since 2011 (No. 3).
Radford and
Winthrop tied for fourth in the standings at 13-11, and the Highlanders earned the No. 4 seed based on its head-to-head series sweep of the Eagles to give Winthrop the No. 5 seed.
Presbyterian is the No. 6 and final seed in this year's tournament after concluding the league season at 9-15.
Upstate is seeking its first-ever Big South Baseball Tournament crown, and has played in the Championship game in both 2023 and 2024. High Point is looking to become the league's first back-to-back champion since 2022 and 2023. Radford (two), Winthrop (four) and Presbyterian (one) are all previous Champions, while Charleston Southern is seeking its first-ever Big South Baseball Tournament title.
The 2025 Big South Baseball Championship begins Wednesday, May 21 with three games scheduled and concludes Saturday, May 24 with two potential Championship contests starting at 12:00pm. Every game will be broadcast on ESPN+, while Nexstar will simulcast seven games on television affiliates in the conference's footprint (check local listings for coverage). The Big South's champion receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Baseball Championship.

The Eagles are slated to play fourth-seeded Radford on Wednesday, May 21 at 11:00 a.m. During the regular season, the Highlanders defeated Winthrop in all three meetings in Radford two weeks ago from May 9-11.
