Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop head women's basketball coach
Semeka Randall-Lay has announced that senior point guard
Leonor Paisana will miss the remainder of the 2024-25 season after suffering a season-ending injury.
"Our four-year starter,
Leonor Paisana suffered a season-ending injury in our last competition vs. Radford" said Randall Lay. "She has been the heart and soul of this program. It was devastating to watch her go down. Leonor has grown since she arrived on campus. Even though this is a slight setback, I know this young lady will work her tail off to make a comeback. She's never back down on any challenge in life. We will miss her presence on the floor but she will be coaching her teammates from the sideline."
Paisana is seventh in school history in career triples made (111) and is was also three assists away from moving into a tie for 10th in school history in assists (currently has 299). She currently leads the team in assists with 48 and steals with 24.
She played and started in all 15 games the Eagles have played up to this point in the season. She finishes the campaign having played 373 minutes, shooting 30% from the field and 66% from the free throw line, to go along with 42 rebounds, 48 assists, 24 steals and 95 points.
