The two schools will meet for the 46th time with Charlotte leading the series, 25-19-1. This will be the second of two meetings between the two teams this season, with the 49ers winning the most recent match-up 11-8 in Charlotte on Mar. 12. The Eagles and the 49ers met for the first time on Apr. 17, 1980 in Rock Hill, with Winthrop winning 3-0 on the way to winning 11 of the first 20 contests from 1980-2005. The 49ers then won eight of the next nine games from 2005-2012 but the series has been practically even from 2013 onwards, with Charlotte holding a slight 9-7 edge.
