ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Big South Conference released the 2023 Preseason Men's and Women's Cross Country Poll as the Eagles were voted to finish tied for sixth on the men's side and seventh in the women's, announced by the league office Thursday morning.
Winthrop's men's squad features a young roster heading into the season with four freshmen, four sophomores, two juniors and two seniors.
Daren Hinds (Jr.),
Nolan Weisdorfer (Jr.),
Maxwell Davis (Sr.) and
Austin Spencer (Sr.) bring the most experience to this year's squad.
On the women's side, half of Winthrop's roster is made up four freshmen and
Lauren Charlton, a graduate transfer from UAB. The other half of the roster are three sophomores and two seniors, including sophomore
Olivia Kemp, the top runner for the Eagles last season.
Winthrop opens its season on Sep. 1 with the Elon Twilight in Elon, N.C.
