ROCK HILL, S.C. - Coming off a 6-1 loss to South Carolina at home, resulting in the Gamecocks taking the two-game season series from the Eagles, snapping the Eagles' season-high four game win streak and dropping Winthrop's record to 21-22 with 11 regular-season games remaining, Winthrop continues conference play by traveling to Radford in a three-game series tomorrow at 6 p.m.
Â
The two schools will meet for the 116th time with Winthrop leading the series by a 64-51 count, including 26-25 in Radford. The Eagles and Highlanders met for the first time in a doubleheader on Mar. 28, 1985 with the Eagles winning by scores of 11-1 and 11-2 at home on the way to a two-game sweep, as well as winning the first nine and 11 of the first 13 meetings. The Highlanders are currently 9-36 overall, 1-17 in Big South play on the year, have failed to win a Big South series so far and at one point lost 22 consecutive games. Their longest win streak was three, the aforementioned sweep of Hartford. Â Last season, Radford finished with an overall record of 15-33 and 8-15 in the Big South. Radford was voted to finish tenth with 25 points in the Big South in the 2023 preseason coaches poll.
