Four Top 3 Finishes Highlight Final Day Of 49er Classic

Charlotte, N.C. – Winthrop men's & women's track & field began their 2022-23 outdoor track and field season at the 49er Classic.

On The Track (Top 8 Finishes)
  • On the men's side, Noah Woodbury and Austin Spencer finished fifth and eighth in the 5000m open with times of 15:40.13 and 15:46.36, respectively.
  • The men's 4x100 relay team finished fourth with a time of 41.46.
In The Field (Top 8 Finishes)
  • In the 400H, Bautista Vivanco and Jurnii Lucas finished third and seventh with marks of 54.48 and 55.00, respectively. Lucas's was a PR.
  • In the high jump, Jaden Mathieu finished third with a leap of 2.00m.
  • On the women's side, Monay James finished sixth in the high jump with a leap of 1.45m, a PR.
  • In the shot put, Johntavia Shaw finished third with a mark of 13.46m.
  • In the discus throw, To'Mara Carmichael finished third with a toss of 38.66m, a PR.
  • In the hammer throw, Ambar Nunez-Gomez finished fourth with a toss of 48.99m.

The Eagles host the Adidas/Winthrop Invitational next week from Mar. 24-25.
