Winthrop entered 2022 predicted to finish sixth in the Big South Conference, receiving one first place vote. The Eagles finished the 2021 season with a 19-27 (16-21 Big South) record.
The Citadel was picked eighth in the Southern Conference. The Bulldogs finished 2021 with a 12-39 (4-25 SoCon) record.
