Winthrop entered 2022 predicted to finish sixth in the Big South Conference, receiving one first place vote. The Eagles finished the 2021 season with a 19-27 (16-21 Big South) record.
Charleston Southern was picked seventh in the same poll, receiving one first place vote. The Buccaneers ended 2021 with an 18-26 (18-22 Big South) record.
