Baseball Drops Series To ETSU Sunday Afternoon

Box Score ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program fell to the East Tennessee State Buccaneers Sunday afternoon at the Winthrop Ballpark.
 
The Eagles are 3-8 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Eagles got on the board in the bottom of the third inning as Robby Taul scored on an error by the catcher
  • Winthrop had a good chance in the fourth as they loaded the bases, but a strikeout ended the Eagle threat
  • ETSU homered in the top of the fifth inning to tie the score
  • The Eagles had another good chance in the bottom of the sixth, but were unable to capitalize as Szvetitz was stranded on third base
  • The Buccaneers used another home run in the top of the eighth to take a 2-1 lead
  • Winthrop came back strong in the bottom of the frame as they used an error and a wild pitch to re-take the lead at 3-2
  • ETSU took the win and the series with a three-run homer in the top of the ninth inning
