Box Score ROCK HILL, S.C. – The Winthrop baseball program was victorious against the East Tennessee State Buccaneers Friday afternoon at the Winthrop Ballpark.
The Eagles are 3-6 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ty Hooks singled to get on base in the bottom of the first inning, but the Eagles were unable to capitalize
- ETSU got a runner to second base in the top of the second, but they were unable to get the runner home
- Winthrop had runners on first and third in the bottom of the second, but three straight outs snuffed out the chance
- Hooks doubled in the third, but a strikeout left him stranded
- ETSU got a baserunner on in the top of the fifth, but three straight groundouts left him stranded on third base
- The Eagles pushed across three runs in the bottom half of the frame on a Khyree Miller home run, a Joseph Szvetitz RBI single, and a Jack Spyke RBI single
- The Buccaneers responded with a run of their own in the top of the sixth on a solo home run
- Winthrop continued their offensive excellence in the sixth as a sacrifice bunt by Robby Taul and an RBI single to left field by Joey Tepper
- Another Szvetitz RBI single scored the Eagles' sixth run of the game
- ETSU chased Gainey with a two-run double in the top of the eighth
- The Buccaneers hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game in the same half of the frame
- Hooks gave Winthrop the lead back for good in the bottom of the eighth inning
