ROCK HILL, S.C. - Winthrop baseball's opening day is set for Friday, February 18 as the Eastern Michigan Eagles come to the Winthrop Ballpark. The two schools will meet for the third time and the first since the 2009 season. The Eagles won both previous meetings.
Winthrop enters 2022 predicted to finish sixth in the Big South Conference, receiving one first place vote. The Eagles finished the 2021 season with a 19-27 (16-21 Big South) record.
Eastern Michigan was picked eighth in the Mid-American Conference preseason poll after going 21-30 (15-25 MAC) in 2021.
