ROCK HILL, S.C. – Second-year Winthrop lacrosse head coach Kara Concheck has announced her team captains ahead of the 2023 season.
 
"We are thrilled to announce the selection of our 2023 Team Captains, Alyssa Angelo, Molly Dankowski, Jenna Diebert, and Grayson McKenzie," Concheck said.
 
McKenzie is a junior, Angelo and Diebert are seniors and Dankowski is a graduate student. Angelo and Dankowski return as Winthrop's top-three offensive pieces, as Angelo is the Eagles' leading returning goal scorer with 47 goals during her junior year, and Dankowski led the 2022 squad in shots with 58 attempts in 18 games played.
 
McKenzie played in 16 games last season, registering 10 goals and two assists on 24 shots on goal while Diebert played in 18 games, tacking an assist and 13 groundballs. Angelo, Dankowski, Diebert and McKenzie will lead a squad consisting of 16 freshman, four sophomores, 10 juniors, two seniors and two graduate students.
 
"It has been a privilege to witness their inclusive leadership, dedication, servanthood, and passion for our program and each team member involved. Each of our Team Captains encourages and empowers their teammates for utmost success, while leading by example. We are excited for what's to come with their provided leadership within our unit," added Concheck. 
 
Winthrop will look ahead to a new year for the February 2023 season opener at Eagle Field against Kennesaw State at 3 p.m.
