Rock Hill, S.C. – Winthrop's
Daren Hinds was named the Big South Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week while
Mitchell Hill was named the Big South Freshman Runner of the Week, announced by the league office Wednesday afternoon.
Hinds finished 28
th at the Royals Challenge last week, finishing with a time of 25:13.6. He shaved more than a minute off his personal-best and ran the fastest 8K by an Eagle since Theo Kahler in 2018. Hill also competed in the Royals Challenge, finishing with a time of 28:14.7.
Hill and Hinds are the first men's cross country runners to garner a weekly honor since Kevin Mills was the runner of the week on Sept. 20, 2017.
