Eagles Look To Keep Things Rolling Against Campbell Tuesday Night

ROCK HILL, SC - The Eagles will look to extend their winning streak Tuesday night when they travel to Buies Creek to take on the Campbell Camels. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.

Winthrop is coming off a series sweep over the Charleston Southern Buccaneers. The Eagles took the opener in 11 inning, 4-2, before dominating Saturday's double header with a 17-4 win in Game 1 and a 9-7 victory in Game 2. 

Scout McFalls was unstoppable at the plate on Saturday, going 6-for-10 at the dish, totaling five RBI. In the Eagles 13-run win in Game 1 on Saturday, the senior was 4-for-5 with four RBI and fell a home run shy of the cycle. The senior kept his hot streak going in the series finale, going 2-for-5 at the plate with a solo home run.

Ty Hook was instrumental in the extra-inning win, singling in the top of the 11th, driving in an insurance run to give Winthrop the 4-2 win. He also got the scoring underway in the top of the 2nd inning with a solo home run, the first of his collegiate career. He had seven RBI in the series against the Bucs. 

Dalton Mims has been a reliable arm out of the pen, earning the win in Friday night's game behind 4 innings pitched and a pair of strikeouts. He came in and earned the save in the series finale behind 0.2 innings pitched and striking out the final batter to end the game and secure the 9-7 win. 

The Camels enter Tuesday's contest on a three-game win streak after sweeping Radford. Campbell now sits in second place of the Big South standings with seven games left to play. 

Zach Neto continues to lead the way for the Camels with his .400 batting average. The freshman has won three consecutive Big South weekly honors; Freshman of the Week (4/12), Player of the Week (4/19) and Freshman of the Week (4/26). 

Christian Matthews is batting .378 on the season and has a team-leading 54 RBI and 15 home runs. 

Winthrop willl look to snap.a six-game losing skid against the Camels with a win on Tuesday evening.
