ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop women's basketball will travel to Buies Creek for a Big South Quarterfinals showdown with the Campbell Camels on Monday, Mar. 8. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. with all the action streamed on ESPN3. This will be the Eagles first quarterfinals appearance since the 2014-15 season. After finishing the regular season 17-13, they fell to the Campbell Camels, 65-52.

SERIES HISTORY
This will be the 44th time in history that the Eagles and Camels will meet. These two teams met twice prior to the Division I era with Winthrop winning both contests. The Camels currently lead the all-time series 32-11. Campbell swept the season series, winning 69-41 in Game 1, before dominating in Game 2 on New Years Eve, 80-37. The Eagles' last win over Campbell came on the road on Jan. 15, 2019, 59-46.

The Eagles enter the Big South Conference Tournament as the No. 7 seed after finishing the regular season 6-17 overall with a 5-15 mark in conference play. Winthrop will look to snap a six-game losing skid when they take on the Camels. Winthrop's leading scorer,
Myra Strickland, finished the season averaging 10.6 points per game, good enough for Top 20 in the Big South.
Anika Riley and
Sydney Hunter finished the season as beasts on the board, averaging 5.9 and 5.8 rebounds respectively. Hunter was also named to the Big South All-Academic team, her first conference honor.
J'Mani Ingram had a solid freshman campaign, she appeared in all 23 games, making her first and only collegiate start at UNC Asheville. She averaged 5.9 points per game and 1.9 rebounds.
NEW LEADER AT THE HELM
Semeka Randall Lay has taken over the Winthrop women's basketball program after serving as Associate Head Coach last season. Randall Lay in a 2000 graduate of the University of Tennessee, where she was an integral part of Tennessee's 1998 NCAA Championship team that went 39-0, averaging 15.9 points a game while earning honorable mention All-America recognition. She was drafted 17th overall in the 2001 WNBA draft by the Seattle Storm and spent four years in the league. Randall Lay brings eight years of head coaching experience with an overall career record of 67-176.

Anika Riley has recorded 756 career rebounds and needs 25 more to take sole-possession of 7th best in program history. Graduate transfer
Madison Ervin needs 68 points this season to record her 1,000 collegiate career point. She has made stops at Mars Hill, Cape Fear Community College and Georgia State. Junior
Maleeah Langstaff is coming up on her 100th career assist, needing just two more to reach that milestone.
CAMPBELL CAMELS
The Camels earned the No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season 14-6 overall, with an 11-4 mark against Big South opponents. The Camels have won their last three contests, winning eight of their last 10. The Camels had three players earned post season honors, Shy Tuelle, Taya Bolden and Lauren McNamara-Clement. Tuelle was named First-Team All-Conference, averaging 11.5 points, 5 rebounds and 2.2. assists per game. Bolden was named Second-Team All-Conference, averaging 12.4 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. McNamara-Clement was named Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the first student-athlete to win the honor.
