Since 2000, the Eagles are 42-18 against the Bucs, with a 23-4 record when they're the home team. Winthrop has won six of its last 10 meetings with Charleston Southern.

The Eagles took 2-of-3 games from the Longwood Lancers in their first weekend of conference play. In Game 1 of Saturday's double-header, the Eagles narrowly won, 6-5, before dropping Game 2, 7-3.

Winthrop won the rubber match Sunday behind a six-run 6th inning. The Eagles were walked 19 times in the win, with five of those walks bringing in a run.

Freshman Ty Hooks was electric at the plate against the Lancers. He posted a .556 batting average, going 5-for-9 at the dish. He had 2 RBI in the series and drew five walks.

Parker Whittle came into the game on Sunday in relief of Reese Lumpkin and threw 4.1 scoreless innings, striking out three.

Winthrop is now 5-6 on the season.

Charleston Southern has won four of its last five contests and has won three consecutive Big South series to open conference play. They have taken 2-of-3 from Longwood, UNC Asheville and most recently, Gardner-Webb.

Tyrell Brewer currently leads the team with his .354 batting average and 17 hits, while Houston Parker's 11 RBI this is best on the team. Parker was named Big South Player of the Week following a stellar performance against UNC Asheville.

The Bucs enter the midweek series 7-6 overall with a 7-3 mark against Big South opponents. Charleston Southern was swept in its season opener against Boston College, their only non-conference three-game set of the season. Their series with Ball State was canceled.

These teams are scheduled to meet again on April 20 and May 7-8 at Nielsen Field at CSU Ballpark.
