Rock Hill, SC – After back-to-back series postponements, Winthrop baseball will return to the diamond this weekend against Big South opponent, Longwood. The series was supposed to kick off on Friday, Mar. 19 but inclement weather slid the series opener to Saturday afternoon.

The Eagles have had much success against the Lancers in recent history, winning nine of the last 10 meetings. Since 2016, Winthrop holds a 16-5 series lead.
 
Winthrop last took the field at home on Mar. 2 against the Carolina Gamecocks. They dropped the midweek matchup, 19-8.
 
Against the Gamecocks, Luke Hannum was 1-for-1 with two RBI, while Jonathan Strauss went 2-for-4 at the dish.
 
Before the time off, Andrew Jenner was electric at the plate, batting .417 with two RBI against Towson. Jenner's 11 hits is a team-high.

In his last outing, Dalton Mims earned the win, while recording five strikeouts in five innings pitched.
 
The Lancers will look to turn things around after dropping their last two contests, Game 2 of a double-header against Norfolk State, 2-1 and a single-game against High Point, 9-2.
 
Hunter Gilliam leads the team offensively with his .373 batting average. He has recorded 22 hits so far this season and 15 RBI. His 22 hits is the second most in the Big South.
 
While he's played in just half the games, freshman Eliot Dix follows with 13 RBI on the young season, making seven starts.
 
Dylan Saale has appeared in four games, making three starts. He's pitched 18.2 innings this season and leads the Lancers with 20 strikeouts.   

The series will kick off with a double-header Saturday afternoon, followed by a single-game Sunday afternoon.
