ROCK HILL, S.C. – Winthrop will welcome Towson back to Rock Hill for the first time since 1995 on Saturday for a three-game set, Feb. 27-28. Due to inclement weather, Friday's game has been moved to Sunday afternoon. Saturday is a double-header set to begin at 1 p.m. Sunday's first pitch is also scheduled for 1 p.m.

Towson was a member of the Big South Conference from 1993-95. These teams last met on Mar. 26, 1995, with the Eagles winning a close one at home, 4-3. Winthrop has yet to drop a contest to the Tigers, entering the series with a 10-0 all-time series lead.
The Eagles are coming off a rough outing against South Carolina, dropping the midweek matchup Tuesday night, 12-4.
Andrew Jenner and
Spencer Yankle both went 2-for-4 against the Gamecocks and currently lead the team with their .333 batting averages.
Dillon Morton was 1-for-3 at Founders Park with two RBI.
Winthrop leaned on six pitchers, with senior
Colten Rendon making his season debut.
The Towson Tigers are making the three hour trip from Cullowhee, N.C. after a four-game series with the Western Carolina Wildcats. The Tigers dropped all four games, entering this weekend on the hunt for their first win of the young season.
Towson was 7-8 in 2020 before COVID-19 canceled the remainder of the season. In the North Division of the CAA preseason poll, the Tigers were picked to finish fourth. Javon Fields was named a CAA Preseason Honorable Mention.
