Rock Hill, S.C.--Â Winthrop baseball's opening day is set for Saturday, February 20 as Appalachian State pays a visit to the Winthrop Ballpark. Opening day was originally set for Friday but was changed to a double-header on Saturday due to inclement weather. The two schools will meet for the 10
th time in history, the first time since 2004. Winthrop has won nine of 10 meetings.
Winthrop enters 2021 selected to finish second in the Big South Conference, receiving one first place vote. The Eagles finished the shortened season with an 11-4 record, its best start under head coach
Tom Riginos.

App State was picked fifth in the 2021 Sun Belt preseason poll. The Mountaineers posted an 11-6 record in 2020.
